At any given time, nearly 2,500 local children wait in foster care for permanent, safe, and loving homes. Survivors of chaos, they need much more individual attention than the courts and social service agencies can provide. For these children, the foster care system alone just isn’t enough.
Because CASA works so well, the courts are asking us to train more volunteers to serve more children. Our five-year target calls for more than doubling our volunteer force to reach all the children who wait for advocates. The need is greater than ever as government funding to social service agencies shrinks.
To grow, we need your help. It costs approximately $2,000 to provide a child with an advocate for a year. Funding is needed for recruiting and training volunteers and maintaining CASA’s operations. We depend increasingly on the community for donations, volunteers, and in-kind support.
